The beginnings of nanoscience
Carbon is the basic element of organic matter and is part of all living things known. In addition to find it in organic molecules, also exists in its purest form, for example in the form of graphite and diamond.
The year 1985 was discovered a new form of pure carbon, with structure similar to a soccer ball, consisting of 60 carbon atoms ( C60).
This molecule was called fullerene or buckminsterfullerene, and ushered in the age of nanoscience and nanotechnology.
